Wollishofen Chess Club (SVW) is one of the biggest chess clubs
in Switzerland.
We have approximately 140 members, 25 of which are juniors.
The club was founded in 1933 and is a section of the Swiss Federation
of Chess as well as the Chess Association of Zurich.
On our club nights there is a varied schedule: There are the club
championship and a cup competition, as well as regular blitz and
rapid chess events for players of every playing ability.
In the Swiss Team Chamionship (SMM) we compete with seven teams,
our first team playing in the highest division.
In the Swiss Group Championship (SGM) we have four teams and are
the current title holders.
In the Team Championship of Zurich (ZMM) there are seven teams representing
Wollishofen at the moment.
Our most important successes:
- Swiss Team Championship (SMM): promotion to National League A: 1999, 2001
